Right and wrong with AI
Be able to give examples of fair and unfair ways to use AI.
Prerequisites
Everyday explanation
An AI can help you with a lot: explain a word, make up a story, fix your spelling. It is fair to use AI to learn things and to get ideas.
It is unfair to:
- let the AI do your homework and say you did it yourself,
- type in other people's names, addresses or pictures without asking,
- ask the AI to be mean about someone.
And: the AI can be wrong even though it sounds confident. Check with a book or an adult if it matters.
Interactive
Three rules you can remember:
- Tell — say that you got help from an AI.
- Check — AI can make things up; ask someone if it matters.
- Protect — no secrets, names or pictures of other people.
Try this: a friend wants the two of you to ask the AI to write something nasty about a classmate. Which rule does that break? (Rule 3 — and it is unkind even without the AI.)
Mastery means
- Gives two fair and two unfair ways to use AI
- Knows when to ask an adult
