The school's rules for AI
Be able to apply the school's rules and to declare how AI was used in a piece of work.
Prerequisites
Intuition
Schools have rules for AI because the point is that you learn something, not that a text gets finished. Common principles:
- Allowed if declared: ideas, explanations, language checking — as long as you write down how AI was used.
- Not allowed: handing in AI text as your own, using AI in an exam, feeding in personal data or other people's work.
- Ask the teacher when the task does not say.
A declaration can be one line: «I used an AI to get three ideas for the introduction and to check the spelling. All the text is written by me.»
Interactive
Cases to judge:
- A pupil asks an AI to explain what a metaphor is, then writes their own examples. → OK, declare it.
- A pupil lets an AI write the book review and changes a few words. → Not OK — it is not the pupil's work.
- A pupil pastes in a classmate's essay to «get some tips». → Not OK — someone else's work, and possibly personal data.
- A pupil uses AI on a take-home exam where the teacher has said nothing. → Ask first.
Which case do you find hardest? Why?
