Safe AI use at work
Be able to describe simple rules for safe AI use: no sensitive data, verify outputs, maintain transparency.
Prerequisites
Everyday explanation
Three rules for AI in the workplace:
- No sensitive data. Never enter personal data, customer records, salaries, trade secrets, or other confidential information. What you type may be stored and used.
- Verify. AI can hallucinate. Check facts against sources, manuals, or ask a colleague.
- Be transparent. State how you used AI in a task. Getting help is not cheating — pretending you did not use it is unethical.
And: the company’s own rules always apply — ask if you are unsure.
Interactive
Right or wrong?
- “Explain how an engine works” → OK (no personal data, check the answer).
- “Write an email to customer X, her name is Anna Svensson and she lives on Y Street” → Wrong (personal data + AI does the work).
- “Give me three ideas for a presentation” and you write it yourself and mention that you used AI → OK.
- Paste a photo of a colleague and ask what the person is thinking → Wrong (others’ images and privacy).
Create your own list with two OK and two wrong examples and discuss them with a colleague.
